Fear and Hope
Fear and Hope is a series of sculptures created from freshly felled timber – knowing that they would start to split very quickly, and sometimes severely. Two were turned and the others were carved.
Speed was of the essence to complete the shaping before the inevitable splits started to happen.
The splits and flaws in these pieces reflect all our imperfections, scrape just a little below the surface and none of us is perfect. We all have things to deal with, be it bereavement, illness, break up or any number of life’s challenges. We need to embrace our imperfections and look for hope in our bleakest moments.
