Cambridge Nursery Furniture
Steuart Padwick’s nursery furniture design for the Royal Family was the unanimous winner of a competition held by the The Furniture Makers Company to commemorate the birth of Princess Charlotte.
The solid and veneered ash construction was finished in specially mixed wax oil colours by Osmo and was upholstered in Andrew Muirhead leathers. The chairs were made using a steam bending process that was pushed to its absolute limit. Cambridge was made in England by Benchmark Furniture.
The pieces were very well received and we had a lovely personal letter from Kate saying how much she and William loved the pieces.
There are many people to thank and this project would not have been possible without the great skills and/or wonderful materials of the following companies;
Andrew Muirhead provided the leather.
Osmo provided the specially mixed WaxOils.
Crescent Signs produced the brass plaque.
F Sinclair did the gold plating of the plaque and other fittings.
Hachi Design made and developed the baby insert.
Benchmark Furniture was the primary manufacturer.
The Furniture Makers Company who made this possible by holding the competition in the first place.
