Written in IDFX magazine featuring the Chuckle Bin
They may not be new faces but, Steuart Padwick and Mark Humphrey have both put their design industry experience to new uses of late. For last year’s 100% Design, Padwick, former buyer at The Conran Shop, joined forces with Adrian Reed and Bim Burton to form a showcase of their products called Gas – General And Specific. ‘My stuff is quite simple in form and I love simple shapes,’ says Padwick. The Chuckle Bin is indicative of this. Powder coated in aluminium with a lacquered fibre base, the bin has a unique feature. ‘A bin liner ring holds the washable liner inside, so that, unlike other bins, the liner doesn’t hang over the side,’ he explains.
Steuart Padwick’s Chuckle bin hides the less than attractive bin liner.
